Five Steps to Beautiful Coat

5steps

As show enthusiasts themselves, Chris and Lisa Christensen know just how important quality products are when it comes to achieving beautiful coat. That’s why, when perfection is the only option, you reach for Chris Christensen Systems products. We strive to give our customers high quality products that do what they are supposed to, and will not accept anything less.

At Chris Christensen Systems, there’s one thing we know, and that’s coat care. In today’s post we’re going to go over the five basic steps to achieve beautiful coat.

STEP ONE: PREP

Before you bathe your dog, you should always remove any tangles and knots to protect the coat from damage, and prevent the formation of matts. Be sure to use the proper tools, whether it’s a comb, brush or rake, to not damage your dog’s coat. Each coat type has different requirements on what should be used, as they can vary.

STEP TWO: CLEANSE

The second step is to remove dirt, debris, dander and oils from the coat to keep the skin clean, allowing it to breathe. Based on your dog’s coat type, you will need either a traditional shampoo, or one of our self-rinse options such as Dry Breeze, Self-Rinse Plus or Show Off.

STEP THREE: TREAT

Next, you will want to treat any issues such as rashes, hot spots, color fading, thin coat, or repair damage with our coat treatments. We have a wide variety of product to assist with many different common coat issues such as Peace & Kindness Colloidal Silver spray to treat a variety of skin ailments, Thick N Thicker Volume Response Foaming Protein to thicken the coat and help repair damage, and of course White on White Color Correcting Treatment to brighten all coat colors and whiten whites without bleach!

STEP FOUR: CONDITION

As mentioned in our post all about conditioners, it is vital to every coat type to use conditioner. Conditioner seals the cuticle, protecting the coat from damage, and color fading. We have great options for every coat type, including wire coats!

STEP FIVE: FINISH

This step can mean very different things depending on your dog’s needs, whether you are prepping for show, or giving a maintenance bath, but it is important to finish with the proper products, and dry your dog completely.
